The Pic and Bow members Charles David Smart and Michelle Gawith share fun and dynamic energy – world class musicians with very different backgrounds coming together for the sheer joy of music and sharing it with others. Together, they create a distinctive and quality musical experience.

Whether ministering with widely diverse Christian fellowships (The Crystal Cathedral), picking backstage at Nashville’s Grand Ol’ Opry, jamming in the family pubs of Ireland or performing in leading American university concert halls, multi-styled, award winning, Nashville recording guitarist David Smart’s artistry and love for the Lord show through his music with passion and energy.

David’s musical career launched when he began touring with internationally recognized musicians, performing in major arenas throughout the USA, Canada and Europe making music with internationally renowned artists including: contemporary Christian artists and GMA Dove Award recipients Phillips, Craig and Dean; First Call; NewSong; and Larnel Harris; Country Music Hall of Fame member Roy Clark; and jazz legends Pat Methany and Clark Terry. David stays open to musical growth and enjoys a wide range of performance opportunities in pop, jazz, country, classical, and sacred music. After teaching guitar for almost 20 years at MidAmerica Nazarene University, he now teaches privately and with Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Michelle Gawith brings her love for music and for the Lord together whenever and whatever she plays. She has enjoyed the privilege of studying with renowned performers including: Joseph Gingold, Isaac Stern, Pinchas Zukerman, and Emanuel Borok (Concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony), all before graduating from high school.

Beginning as a freshman in high school, Michelle has performed solo concertos and as symphony violinist with orchestras throughout Middle America. Michelle is also an experienced worship leader serving as an ordained minister and Registered Song Evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene. In addition to her involvement with The Pic and Bow, Michelle teaches privately, performs with the St. Joseph (MO) and Wichita (KS) Symphonies, and enjoys writing inspirational concert violin hymn arrangements.
